I am currently a fourth year Stage and Screen student at Queen's University. Over the course of my four years of study I've focused on developing my skills as a playwright, animator, and theatre technician. Examples of my work as a writer and animator can be found under 'written work' and 'video'. In terms of technical production, I'm predominantly trained as an electrician but have worked in variety of areas such as Technical Director, Assistant Production Manager, and Stage Manager.

I am fascinated by people's flaws or problems, the "darkness" inside them so to speak. Whenever I draft my character bios I always make sure to give them some virtues, a handful of unconsequential quirks, but what I enjoy most is fabricating thier flaws. It's what makes them feel real and relatable because they are so complex. No one is perfect aand sometimes it can be tough to hurt the characters you grow attached to.

I chose this photo because I felt the bleakness was representitive of the recurring themes in my work. Despite my best efforts I havent yet been able to produce a happy story, even the one that start hopeful tend to end in tragedy. I do not won this photo.

I've always thought of my character's interactions as a series of moves and counter moves. They're people with conflicting objectives who are constantly trying to work around, with, or against each other. I do not own this photo.

Something I always strive for in my work is realism. I've never been partial to writing fantasy. All my characters are human, there's no magic, and I strive to make thier reactions realistic and plausible. I do not own this photo.

I believe that a good story explores a wide spectrum of emotion. Even if it's a tragedy, there are hilarious moments and there are always serious moments in a comedy. Without these shifts a story becomes monotonous very quickly. It also isn't realistic, life isn't all shades of grey but nor is it always sunshine and rainbows. I do not own this photo.

All of my writing features emotional journeys. A professor once told me that plays always need character making choices under stress and going through changes and that is something I have taken very seriously in my work. Every protagonist I've written goes through a large personal change over the course of the play and believe that is what makes them realistic and interesting. I do not won this photo.
